For using unlicensed versions of Windows fined the group of companies "Native land". This decision was made by the court of Minsk district, according to Microsoft's representative office in Belarus. The precedent has been created in Belarus for the first time.



during the inspection of law enforcement bodies it was found that on the computers of the company "the Native land" were installed pirated copies of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. the Decision of the Minsk district court on the infringer of the copyrights Microsoft imposed a fine of 40 basic units, also on 22 basic units was fined the employee responsible for IT infrastructure of the company.

According to representatives of Microsoft, is "unprecedented administrative case demonstrates that the Belarusian legislation in the field of protection of intellectual property works, the courts are willing to consider such claims, and law enforcement agencies to investigate and bring to court cases involving the violation of the rights of copyright holders."

"In Belarus, there is no criminal prosecution of legal persons for such violations, but there is criminal liability for individuals, for the repeated use of unlicensed software in the course of the year, after the imposition of an administrative penalty", – reminded Tatiana Ignatovskaya, the legal representative of Microsoft in Belarus.
