Employee of tufts University (USA) Chris Gregg remade classic typewriter to the printer, which can be controlled directly from your computer. As a final result, he launched at her "Symphony of a typewriter" by Leroy Anderson, written specifically for these devices. This tells the resource SlasgGear.

it All started with the fact that Gregg wanted to make a classic typewriter printer, which would be controlled via PC. His first "experimental" was used in the sixties of the last century electric typewriter Smith Corona, but the idea with automatic keystrokes without physically touching them failed: the inventor realized that in the machine uses a sophisticated mechanical system of button presses that cannot be connected to the computer directly, so the project had to be postponed.

After some time, Gregg had an idea: instead of using the computer to keystrokes he decided to engage the solenoids (a kind of inductors), and they, in turn, be controlled via PC. Eventually he established on the keyboard of the typewriter a whole array of electromagnets that process the commands using the Arduino Uno microcontroller and shift register TI TPIC6A595.

the project took a lot of time and effort, and in some places even had to involve the students. Nevertheless the result is worth it.
