velcom announced that the first in Belarus launched the technology of UMTS-900

At the end of last year, the operator velcom has promised to cover the whole country of 3G network in the 900 MHz range. Today in Dzerzhinsk started to work the first base station supports UMTS-900 technology. The company noted that a total of five installed in the city of BS cover more than half of territory of Dzerzhinsky district.

At the end of last year, the operator velcom has promised to cover the whole country of 3G network in the 900 MHz range. Today in Dzerzhinsk started to work the first base station supports UMTS-900 technology. The company noted that a total of five installed in the city of BS cover more than half of territory of Dzerzhinsky district.

After Dzerzhinsky new technology comes on main roads of the Brest and Gomel regions and in Minsk. Together with the previously existing infrastructure in the range of 2100 MHz coverage area of 3G velcom network until the end of the year will grow more than twice — from the current 46.3 per cent to 97%. The operator has promised that during the year "a qualitative leap in the field of mobile Internet will be felt by millions of subscribers across the country."

Due to the large radius of action of base stations in the UMTS-900 high-speed broadband Internet will be available in almost all territories of Belarus, including the urban fringes and the countryside. In addition, significantly improves the quality of reception indoors, especially in areas of dense urban development on the ground floors in the buildings located in the lowland or "closed" from base stations other facilities.
