Director Vertu immediately after the announcement about the change of owner reported the resignation. Along the way he noted that now is an excellent time to transfer "the baton of leadership to a new team." The production of Vertu devices will remain in the UK, which employs 450 employees.

Nokia founded Vertu in 1998 to fill the niche of luxury smartphones. In 2012 the brand was sold to the Swedish investment company for 200 million euros, while Nokia has retained a small stake in the company.
