Qualcomm announced the development of Quick Charge 3.0 — standard fast charging, which will allow a fully depleted smartphone be recharged to 80% in just 35 minutes, reports AnandTech. For devices that do not support Quick Charge standard, this process would have taken about one and a half hours.

Version 3.0 Quick Charge will be 38% more efficient than the previous standard, and the recovery rate of the charge will increase by 27%. If you compare this with the first Quick Charge, the speed will not be doubled. The first devices with the new standard charge will appear on the market next year with the release of the chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The standard does not require modifications of existing connectors, cables devices and is compatible with the new USB Type-C.

Perhaps a higher charge rate of smartphones will be able to somehow insufficient to compensate for the volume of their batteries.
