The Rosetta probe crashing into a comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko (3 photos)

the European space Agency (ESA) has adopted a proposal to extend the mission of the Rosetta probe until September 2016. The Agency announced on its official website. the European space Agency (ESA) has adopted a proposal to extend the mission of the Rosetta probe until September 2016. The Agency announced on its official website. However to this point it remains an open question about "recycling" stations: the most likely is still the plan, according to which scientists will literally break expensive space equipment on the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. In the name of science, of course.

By September of next year, Rosetta will be practically no fuel, and the probe begins to move away from the Sun that nourishes his electronics. The idea of placing a probe on a comet looks brutal at first glance, but scientists will be able to obtain the most accurate data on space his body and detailed images.

Recall that recently on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a long sleep "woke up" Rosetta lander — Philae. The spacecraft was launched on 2 March 2004.
