the Quark model in the mid 60-ies of the last century was suggested by American physicist Murray Gell-Mann. For that a few years later was awarded the Nobel prize. The hunt for pentachrome lasted almost 50 years, but only experiments at the Large hadron Collider was able to end the quest. Scientists explain that they were able to access not just the subunit that make up protons and neutrons, and a new mechanism of unification of quarks.

the Large hadron Collider was launched in April after a two year hiatus. Over the years, has upgraded equipment and increased capacity doubled, to 13 trillion electron volts.
