NASA Astronaut Chell Lindgren install the VEGGIE system on the ISS launched the project for growing plants in space. In special "pillows" are the seeds of zinnias, which are expected to sprout for the New year and will be the first fresh flowers on the ISS. Scientists plan to obtain information about plants, life cycle takes place in zero gravity away from Earth. Lindgren will be engaged in the observation of flowers, before activating the system supplying nutrients and water. For 10 hours the plants will be covered with LED lamps, 14 hours without light. In the future, if scientists are satisfied with the results, VEGGIE can be used for growing vegetables, fruits and other plants for "orbital garden". Theoretically, this will help future explorers of other planets. See also: the
