the First transfusion of artificial blood can be held in 2017. According to the British health authority NHS Blood and Transplant, this will help scientists from major universities of Bristol, Oxford and Cambridge. It is assumed that the cells "laboratory" blood will be produced using stem cells from adults and umbilical cord blood.

the testing of artificial blood will be held on 20 volunteers who pour 5 to 10 ml. After scientists will compare the results of an innovative method of blood transfusion with normal, use of living donors.

the NHS notes that every year the number of needy in the blood of people is growing, and donors are becoming less and less. With the help of artificial blood, scientists hope to help those people who by reason of a disease required constant blood transfusions and of life which now directly dependent on donors. The organization promises that the price of artificial blood will be as low as possible.

"Scientists from around the world for many years trying to produce red blood cells, which could be proposed as alternatives to donor blood to treat patients," says Dr Nick Potts, the head of NHS Blood and Transplant. — We are confident that by 2017, our team is ready to conduct the first clinical trials on human volunteers". According to Potts, the use of artificial blood can change the lives of millions of sick people worldwide.
