experts from the University Research Institute of transport at Michigan found that Autonomous vehicles are not as safe as we would like. It turned out that the machines running the computer systems involved in an accident more than two times more often than those which wheel is the driver.

Data were obtained after the analysis of the movements of the Autonomous vehicles of three companies — Google, Delphi and Audi (search Corporation uses a Lexus, the other two — Audi) who have overcome a total of more than 1.9 million kilometres on public roads.

perpetrators of the accident with the participation of Autonomous vehicles in all cases were drivers of conventional vehicles. Also interesting is the fact that 73% of accidents occurred when a computer-driven car was moving at a speed less than 8 km/h or standing.

According to the researchers, the share of cars with drivers-people have to 4.1 accidents per million kilometers and 1.02 injuries; Autonomous vehicles, the figures are 9.1% and 3,29, respectively.

it is Noted that the technology used at the moment is far from perfect and people are able to use a larger set of algorithms in different situations. Although tests are conducted on public roads, they are rather "hothouse" conditions, but this does not prevent the regular accidents.
