the spacecraft NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter found in impact craters on the Martian surface deposits of glass. Scientists suggest that there may be traces of life may have existed on the red planet in the past. As noted in the article of the journal Geology, similar deposits may exist on Mars.

In theory, the glass can be detected due to its reflectivity. However, the material, which is formed after melting of the soil from the impact of a celestial body, does not have sufficiently expressed by the reflection coefficient. In addition, it is hidden to the outside observer in other geological formations — rocks, for example.

To find the glass in the prevailing conditions, scientists need to define its parameters in the laboratory, and then create an algorithm that allowed us to locate the material on a remote planet. In the future, the analysis of the Martian glass can be held after sending automated probes or manned missions.
