researchers from the University of Michigan in the USA has created a special implant, which, like a sponge, able to attract the cancer cells, reports Popular Science. Tiny development will become a kind of early warning system for the spread of cancer cells in the body. Now doctors have to do numerous ineffective blood tests to detect signs of cancer at an early stage.

In the study, scientists tested the sponge measuring about 5 millimeters in diameter, made of a copolymer of lactic and glycolic acids. Test were laboratory mice with breast cancer. Sponge placed under the skin and into the abdominal cavity of mice, and after 28 days had taken them off and found on implants cancer cells, while the tissues themselves there were no traces of cancer. In the past scientists have found that, breaking away from the tumor, the cancer cells in the blood are moving immune.

it Turned out that when using implants by 10% decreased the number of cancer cells in other parts of the body. In the near future, scientists plan to conduct a series of tests on the man.
