Iranian scientists have shown a humanoid robot Surena III (video)

Researchers from Tehran University demonstrated the latest generation for a humanoid robot named Surena III. Iranian robot man showed the skills of walking, grasping and balance on one leg. The creators explain that it can also climb the stairs and walk on uneven surfaces and kick the ball.

the Distance from the heels to the top of the robot is 1.9 meters, and its weight does not exceed 98 kg. External case made of plastic with LED illumination. The robot is equipped with 3D vision, which is based on the Kinect technology, and a servomotor 31, which actuate its members.

As explained by the IEEE website, the Iranian robot demonstrates limited ability in comparison with colleagues from other countries. But it is quite a remarkable progress in 7 years. The first version of Surena was shown in 2008 and had only 8 degrees of freedom.
