American scientists were to provide a way for healthcare providers to use genetic material of three people to "make" future children. It is transmitted from mother to child, so some parents, fearing for their offspring, refuse the birth of a child in favour of adoption, reports The Verge. Scientists also believed possible to circumvent the attack by manipulating the mitochondria.
