Thermal capacity of the new reactor with sodium coolant is 150 MW. On the basis of a new reactor is planned to create an international research center where, in particular, will be explored new types of nuclear fuel, structural materials and coolants.

the reactor will be used in the production of radioisotopes for various purposes. In addition, the reactor would allow for medical research. The project is carried out in the framework of the Federal target program "Nuclear power technologies of new generation for the period 2010-2015 and until 2020".
