national research Institute in France reported that genetically modified sheep with jellyfish DNA was randomly sold to slaughter and probably somebody had already eaten. A sheep named ruby was part of a research program Green Sheep, in which the Institute studied the effects of different implants for people with heart disease.

the Sheep was born in 2014 from the mother, DNA which has been modified green fluorescent protein (GFP). He was isolated from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria and makes the skin transparent animals, writes The Verge with reference to Le Parisien.

according to the French newspaper at the National Institute for strategic studies and the Department of justice of France, the lamb was sold to slaughter at the beginning of last autumn together with normal sheep. Then in October 2014, he was resold to slaughter an unnamed individual, which, quite probably, have already used the object of genetic engineering in food. Scientists say that genetically modified lamb does not represent a risk to human health. Irrespective of this, after running in December, an internal investigation of the incident will help the cause of the French prosecutors.

the Institute believe that ruby was derived from the laboratory is not accidental, but the plan of some employees — the suspects are already available. If their guilt is able to prove, then they face a fine of € 75,000 and up to one year of imprisonment.
