British science popularizer Stephen Hawking thinks it's possible in the future the retrieval from black holes almost unlimited amount of energy. According to him, humanity will be able to create microscopic black holes that will live in the "extra" dimensions of space-time whose existence is predicted by the theory of strings.

"a Black hole with the mass of the Sun will produce particles of Hawking radiation at a very low speed, making it virtually impossible to detect. However, if you reduce it to the size of mountains, then the black hole will produce x-ray and gamma radiation with a total capacity of approximately 10 million megawatts -- enough to power electrical appliances of the whole Earth" — said Hawking.

These black holes will be extremely dangerous for the Earth, as if handled carelessly they can cause a catastrophe of global proportions. They would keep on orbiting the Earth at a safe distance from the planet, and these objects in space has not yet been found.

In an invisible dimensions, gravity will manifest itself stronger, which will facilitate the creation of a singularity, according to "RIA Novosti". According to Hawking, humanity may accidentally create such an object today at the Large hadron Collider (this has not happened yet, but the physicist looked forward to this moment: in this case, it becomes a candidate for the Nobel prize in physics).
