using the Very Large Telescope, astronomers have found in the center of the planetary nebula Henize 2-428 two white dwarf, whose total mass is equal to 1.8 Sun. At the moment it is the most massive star pair today.
it is Known that each of white dwarfs makes a full rotation around a common center of mass in just 4 hours. Now both stars are on the last stage of evolution, then, according to the General theory of relativity, an explosion will occur resulting supernova.
Astronomers believe that the life cycle of white dwarfs will come to an end "just" over 700 million years.
